Summary:  

This is a synthetic protocol for the synthesis of 1,3-enynes via the coupling of acetylenes and vinyl iodides using a well defined copper (I) catalyst ([Cu(bipy)PPh3Br])  The protocol tolerates a wide-range of functional groups resulting in good to excellent yields.  Certain functional groups can be incorporated to increase the functionality of the enyne.
