Title:   Novel Breast Cancer Susceptibility Genes
Inventor:   D.Joseph Jerry, Ph.D. and Anneke C. Blackburn, Ph.D.
Summary:

This invention provides diagnostic and prognostic kits and methods for the detection of susceptibility to breast cancer in a subject, assessment for level of treatment, evaluation of success of treatment, and evaluation for progress of disease in a particular subject.  The method is based on studies of the level of expression of the DMBT1 gene found on mouse chromosome 7. Low levels of expression of DMBT1 are associated with susceptibility to mammary tumors in both mice and humans.
