Title:   Fas Apoptosis Inhibitory Molecule (FAIM) A Novel Gene that Inhibits Apoptosis
Inventor:   Rothstein, Thomas L.
Summary:   This invention generally relates to the nucleic acid sequences of a novel gene called the Fas Apoptosis Inhibitory Molecule (faim) that encodes an apoptosis inhibiting protein. Furthermore, this invention relates to methods of identifying and testing antagonists of FAIM activity and to methods to assay for FAIM expression. This has important applications in enhancing desired immune responses such as those that follow vaccination or that might ameliorate malignant diseases, and in diminishing unwanted immune responses such as those responsible for autoimmune dyscrasias.
