Title:   Microgradient Hydrogels for Biomolecular Separations
Inventor:   Wong, Joyce Y
Summary:   The invention is a microfluidic system for separating biomolecules. The invention comprises microchannels filled with gels of various crosslinker concentrations which vary in resistance to protein flow. That is, there is a direct correlation between crosslinker concentration and resistance. This enables the design of a protein separation system because each protein will travel through the gel at a unique rate. We see applications for this device in 2-D electrophoresis and other applications for biomolecular separations.
